Under the vision and guidance of President Dr Sunita Tandulwadkar and General Secretary Dr Bhaskar Pal, IAGE's EAGLE project landed at Terna college Nerul on 27th and 28th November 2019.
The 1st day was started with welcome by HOD Dr Deepa Kala. Dr Egbert Saldhana gave an insight to the delegates on Basics of Laparoscopy. It was followed by Dr Abhishek Chandavarkar with a lecture on How to perform a TLH- step by step.
18 delegates comprising of the residents and faculty were present.
The next session was training the delegates on pelvitrainers on basic and advanced laparoscopy skills with suturing techniques. Johnson and Johnson had made exquisite arrangements with 3 practice stations. Then a lecture on science of tissue management was conducted by JnJ. Finally, all the delegates were given time to practise their skills on the pelvitrainers and the dry lab for open suturing.
28th November witnessed live surgeries demonstrated by Dr Egbert Saldhana, Dr Ujjwal Mahajan and Dr Abhishek Chandavarkar. 8 cases were performed - 4 TLH, 4 Diagnostic Hysteroscopies.
All hysteroscopies were performed by residents under supervision. The hospital faculty were given hands-on Salpingectomy and suturing. HOD Dr Deepa also performed one side of TLH.
The program was well coordinated by the faculty and residents of Terna under the guidance of Dr Deepa Kala and Team. It was well supported by the companies - JnJ, Om surgicals, Olympus.
All in all, the program and Dr Sunita Tandulwadkar ma'am's vision for sowing laparoscopy seeds into the postgraduate curriculum was well appreciated by the residents and faculty.
