Under the vision and guidance of President Dr Sunita Tandulwadkar and General Secretary Dr Bhaskar Pal, IAGE's EAGLE project landed at KEM hospital & GSMC Parel on 10th & 11th January 2020.
10th Jan witnessed live surgeries demonstrated by Dr Ganpat Sawant, Dr Nitin Shah and Dr Abhishek Chandavarkar. 8 cases were performed - 2 TLH, 1 Diagnostic HysteroLap with Myomectomy, 2 Chocolate cystectomies and 3 Hysteroscopic polypectomies.
All hysteroscopies were performed by residents under supervision.
The program was well coordinated by the faculty and residents of GSMC under the guidance of Dr Niranjan Maydeo, Dr Riddhi Shah and Team. It was well supported by the companies - JnJ, Om surgicals, Aesculap and Martin.
The 2nd day was training the delegates on pelvitrainers on basic and advanced laparoscopy skills with suturing techniques. Johnson and Johnson had made exquisite arrangements with 3 practice stations. Then a lecture on science of tissue management was conducted by JnJ. Finally, all the delegates were given time to practise their skills on the pelvitrainers and the dry lab for open suturing.
55 - 60 delegates comprising of the residents and faculty were present.
All in all, the program and Dr Sunita Tandulwadkar ma'am's vision for sowing laparoscopy seeds into the postgraduate curriculum was well appreciated by the residents and faculty.
